Not! is a grammatical construction in the English language that became a sarcastic catchphrase in North America in the 1990s. A declarative statement is made, followed by a pause and then an emphatic "not!" is postfixed. The result is a negation of the original declarative statement. Popularized in North America in the 1990s by the Saturday Night Live skit and subsequent movie Wayne's World, it can be found earliest in print in an 1893 Princeton Tiger (March 30) 103: "An Historical Parallel-- Not." Most often used jocularly, but also be used to express annoyance, it was such a popular catch phrase that it was selected as the 1992 Word of the Year by the American Dialect Society.

The use of a postfix "not" has been used in English since at least the time of Shakespeare (as in "I love thee not"); the 1990s construction emphasizes the addition of the pause between the original statement and the "not".

The "Not!" catchphrase was the basis of a scene in the 2006 movie Borat where a lecturer in humour attempted to explain the grammatical construction to Borat with limited success.

Similar forms of postfix negation are found in other comedic contexts without using the word "Not". Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog invokes the phrase "... for me to poop on!" to negate a compliment that precedes it. (An example would be, "But seriously, you've been a great audience ... for me to poop on!")

maximum ride vs. twilight

O.K. personally, I like James Patterson books better than Twilight. If you now hate me after reading this post, then I really don't care- just don't cuss in your comments because I don't have much time to spend deleting people's comments. So, if you like twilight then post a comment that says that you like twilight, or if you like maximum ride <3 then post a comment that says you like maximum ride. simple as that right?

Have you ever had ORANGE M&M's? Well, I found out that 2 years ago a man lost his job, so (obiously) he got a new one, at a M&M factory. He got himself really drunk and angry so he poured a bucket full of cocain into the ORANGE M&M mix. So whenever people ate the ORANGE M&M's they would get high and would be yelling "gimmie all your M&M's!" when they didn't have any more of them. So, there ya have it-happy M&M eating people!

Hey everyone in this polluted depressing world. I just have some tips that have helped me get through a lot:
1) Don't eat gum on the road-TRUST ME!
2) Never try to walk on water
3) (MOST IMPORTANT!) DON'T GO WATER SKIING IN THE OCEAN 1 and up miles AWAY FROM SHORE!
4) Do not give a stalker you're email (never did, but anyway its a good tip)
5)If you are ever suck on a school related problem; or maybe you can't hammer a nail w/out breaking it; or anything that involves you getting REALLY pissed off; then just remember that you're not as stupid as this guy:
